Data collection weigh station for cost monitoring.

We were approached to design a system for a major bank who wanted to keep track of their costs from their waste collection contractor. The bank wanted to monitor and audit their contractors’ waste collection charges against what they were disposing of for collection.

The Rinstrum 400 indicator was chosen for the system due to its Lua programmability. Lua is a lightweight scripting language which allows the easy writing of scripts to the weighing indicator. The indicator was programmed to record each type of product being weighed, e.g. – green waste, paper & cardboard, plastics, and general waste. Bins were loaded onto the weighing scale via the easy roll on/off inbuilt ramp, and each individual bin weight was recorded. The recorded weights were then transferred to a PC to cross reference against the waste collectors invoice. This system enabled the bank to be in better control of their waste collection costs and to provide an auditing/QA system for their waste processes.
